The water behind electricity

The power system’s invisible fuel.

From the Danube to cooling towers, this edition follows the water that enables generation, the water dams hold and the cost of responding when it becomes scarce.

one physical chain in six steps

Follow the megawatt back to its water source.

The subject may sound technical, but the opening question is concrete: what happens when water is too low, too warm, held for later or simply missing from capacity registers?

The EPUB preserves reading order, canonical links, sources, limitations and text alternatives for the infographics. It remains readable offline while retaining a path to every public correction.

panoramic view

The invisible journey of a megawatt.

Two maps connect river level, the power plant, the grid and the adaptation bill.

edition structure

Six investigations, one reading order.

  1. 01How much is one centimetre of Danube worth?Water levels, intakes and preserved generation
  2. 02The wet megawatt Europe cannot countPower plants, water and Europe’s missing register
  3. 03The extra degreeThermal discharges, limits and grid needs
  4. 04The dam that chooses not to generateStocks, water value and decisions through time
  5. 05The model, the pump and the price of adequacyWhat the model sees and what the system pays
  6. 06The price of coolingTowers, air, reclaimed water, sea and adaptation

extend the reading

Six tools for testing the mechanisms.

The calculators remain on the site so the EPUB stays light, safe and readable offline. No account and no tracker.

verifiable edition

A standalone volume linked to its sources.

The EPUB 3 file contains a structured table of contents, an explicit reading order, adapted infographics and links to all six public articles. No form or account is required to download it.

l0g method

Every figure keeps its denominator.

River level, construction cost, nameplate capacity and an actually preserved MWh do not describe the same thing. The edition retains the units, dates, scope and limits needed to interpret them.
