Contractual set-off

Settling obligations through an agreed offset

Private credit & markets

Short definition

A contractually agreed application of obligations that reduces or replaces a cash transfer. Under the March 2026 Anthropic–Broadcom agreement, a convertible note can settle service obligations and eligible rent. Settling that instalment leaves a new claim against the note issuer.
