Short definition

A contract arranging the sale of shares at a later date under agreed pricing, timing and adjustment terms. In an issuer financing such as Meta’s, banks can sell borrowed shares before the company receives proceeds on settlement against newly issued shares. The proceeds depend on the contract’s conditions and execution.
