Assets under administration
freshreviewed 0 days ago
Short definition
The value of client assets covered by administration, fiduciary or custody services, under the reporting institution’s stated scope. AUA measures neither the bank’s deposit funding nor its equity capital. Comparing it with assets under management requires checking the included services, valuation basis and observation date.

Intuition
The value entrusted by clients describes the scale of a service; it does not measure the bank’s resources to absorb losses.
Formula
OCC scope at September 30, 2025: $6.8 trillion AUA = $5.2 trillion fiduciary accounts + $1.6 trillion custody and safekeeping accounts; rounded inputs. Why it matters now
The Paxos decision reports this total for OCC-supervised uninsured national trust banks across the assets in that scope. It is neither deposit funding nor a crypto-only total.
